In every election, there is a tension between maximizing voter turnout and limiting election fraud. On the one hand, a healthy demcracy depends on public participation; on the other, the system must ensure that the principle of “one man, one vote” is upheld by taking precautions to prevent voting fraud at the polls. More than previous Presidential campaigns, the tensions of limiting voting fraud versus maximing turnout have emerged this year.
At photoprez.com, we are proud to dedicate a photo gallery specifically to tracking and documenting the process of voting all over the country. Located at photoprez.com/electionday2008, the Election Day 2008 gallery allows voters to photograph their civic participation! Registration to photoprez.com is free and members are already uploading photographs of polling places, voting booths, and absentee ballots.
Importantly, on Tuesday November 4, 2008, there are likely to many “voting irregularities” and “issues” of all types. These include unregistered voters, technical complications with computer balloting, and lines, lines, and LINES! Whether your trip to the polls and voting experience is a breeze or a nightmare, record your experience and upload it at photoprez.com to create a permanent record. Registered members of photoprez.com can send their cell phone pictures to go@photoprez.com and they will be instantly uploaded to the photoprez.com LIVE MOBILE gallery. From the WEAT-TV, Channel 4 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania comes the 2008 Presidential election headline of the day. Much has been written about the McCain campaign’s emphasis on winning in Pennsylvania (see, for example, Johnathan Martin and John F. Harris of Politico.com, Adam Nagourney of the NYT Company, and Rick Maese of the Baltimore Sun).
While campaigning Thursday night at Beaver Area High School, Sarah Palin made a sports analogy between her and John McCain’s campaign and underdog 1969 Super Bowl III Champions, the NY Jets. From ThePittsburghChannel.com politics section, the headline reads: “Like Joe Namath, Sarah Palin Guarantees Victory At Beaver Rally“, and details Palin’s speech during the campaign rally. According to the article,
More than 1,000 people packed the stands in chilly Beaver, Pa., about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, to see the Alaska governor in her third campaign visit to the region… “Pennsylvania, with your help, we’re going to win this state, I guarantee,” Sarah Palin said.
From a previous campaign event in Allentown, Pennsylvania here is a photograph of Sarah Palin posted by a member of the photoprez community. (Many more are available in the Sarah Palin gallery at photoprez.com/sarahpalin).

The campaign trail for the 2008 Election is a crowded place, especially at the top. Although John McCain and Sarah Palin are the only candidates officially on the Republican Presidential ticket, there are nevertheless a few other significant political figures campaigning on their behalf. In particular, the current Republican President and Vice President, as well as their spouses, are campaigning for many Republican candidates including those running for Congress, Senate, and Governorships.
At photoprez.com, we have individual galleries for all the major Republican political figures campaigning at the top of the Republican ticket. In general, to reach a photoprez.com candidate gallery directly, you can visit “www.photoprez.com/CANDIDATENAMEHERE“. But, to make it easier, here are the links to each of the Republican galleries:
