In addition, an assemblage of local and national Democratic politicians and celebrities appeared on behalf of President-Elect Barack Obama.

Although CNN, ABC, NBC, and Fox News were relying on projections to place states like Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Florida, and Ohio for Senator Obama, the unusually large turnout numbers make these news networks willing to announce these projections.
