At photoprez.com, we are excited to be the only “news and politics focused” website that offers its members the ability to upload cell phone photos directly online! The photoprez LIVE MOBILE gallery is located at photoprez.com/livemobile and has the most recent cell phone pictures from the campaign trail for the 2008 election.
Often, those closest to the candidates and newsworthy events don’t have the benefit of a digital camera at hand. However, virtually everyone carries cell phones and a majority of those have camera phones. And, although the quality of cell phone media is still less than desireable, increasingly, there are more examples of cell phone photos and videos becoming news. (The most infamous example is probably the leaked Saddam Hussein execution cell phone video).
While the ability to upload from cell phone to web is not new a new feature among the blogging and social network ‘internets’ (see, Flickr, Facebook, Blogger, etc.), the major news organizations are hesitant to offer their readers the ability to full contribute to the creation of ‘news’. For instance, major newspapers outlets with plenty of technological expertise like the Washington Post/ Newsweek Interactive (washingtonpost.com) and the NationalJournal.com don’t have the option for readers to post campaign photographs.
Membership at photoprez.com is free and registration enables members to upload digital photographs, videos, and cell phone videos. That’s why, if you’re at a campaign event, we want to be there!
