Photograph the Vote: Election Picture of the Day (10/28/08)

Among all news organizations, photoprez.com, offers the exclusive ability for voters to take campaign or election day photographs with their cell phones and upload them instantly online in the photoprez.com LIVE MOBILE gallery.  It’s 2008- Photograph Your Vote!

On the expectation of unprecedented voter involvement before and through November 4, 2008, photoprez.com is excited to dedicate a photo gallery specifically to tracking and documenting the process of voting all over the country. Located at photoprez.com/electionday2008, the Election Day 2008 gallery allows voters to photograph their civic participation! Registration to photoprez.com is free and members are already uploading photographs of polling places, voting booths, and absentee ballots.

The election picture of the day comes courtesy of an early absentee ballot voter, who is exercising his right to vote.  In fact, this voter is choosing Independent Party Presidential candidate Bob Barr and Vice Presidential candidate Wayne Root.  photoprez.com is equal-partisan (meaning we despise all political parties equally), but we definitely champion the responsibility to vote and participate in this democracy.  Congratuations Mike and thanks for sharing the photo! (and thank you for serving as an election day Judge! You are a great citizen!)

How to Photograph the Election and Your Vote (November 2008)

In each state, the laws vary on the legality of photography, in and around polling places.  Some common questions about state election laws on photographing the election include the following:

- Can you photograph or video your vote inside the polling station– either a paper ballot or electronic screen?

- Can you photograph or video yourself voting inside the polling station?

- Can you photograph or video others voting or the working of the polling station from within it?

- Can you photograph or video the polling station from outside it?

- Can you photograph or video people leaving the voting station?

- Can you ask people questions leaving the polling station and can you video or blog their answers?

At photoprez.com, we are proud to dedicate a photo gallery specifically to tracking and documenting the process of voting all over the country. Located at photoprez.com/electionday2008, the Election Day 2008 gallery allows voters to photograph their civic participation! Registration to photoprez.com is free and members are already uploading photographs of polling places, voting booths, and absentee ballots.

Importantly, on Tuesday November 4, 2008, there are likely to many “voting irregularities” and “issues” of all types. Hope Flies for Obama Supporters

With the election less than two weeks away, supporters of Barack Obama are increasingly optimistic, in part due to polling results and evidence of high turnout for early voting.  As this photograph posted to the Barack Obama gallery at photoprez.com/barackobama demonstrates, the Democratic party is filled with hope at the prospect of positive election results!

(More campaign photographs of Barack and Michelle Obama can be found at the photoprez galleries.)

“Sarah Palin Guarantees Victory At Beaver Rally”

From the WEAT-TV, Channel 4 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania comes the 2008 Presidential election headline of the day.  Much has been written about the McCain campaign’s emphasis on winning in Pennsylvania (see, for example, Johnathan Martin and John F. Harris of Politico.com, Adam Nagourney of the NYT Company, and Rick Maese of the Baltimore Sun).

While campaigning Thursday night at Beaver Area High School, Sarah Palin made a sports analogy between her and John McCain’s campaign and underdog 1969 Super Bowl III Champions, the NY Jets.  From ThePittsburghChannel.com politics section, the headline reads: “Like Joe Namath, Sarah Palin Guarantees Victory At Beaver Rally“, and details Palin’s speech during the campaign rally.  According to the article,

More than 1,000 people packed the stands in chilly Beaver, Pa., about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, to see the Alaska governor in her third campaign visit to the region…  “Pennsylvania, with your help, we’re going to win this state, I guarantee,” Sarah Palin said.

From a previous campaign event in Allentown, Pennsylvania here is a photograph of Sarah Palin posted by a member of the photoprez community.  (Many more are available in the Sarah Palin gallery at photoprez.com/sarahpalin).
