photoprez.com - the LIVE MOBILE upload feature edition

At photoprez.com, we are excited to be the only “news and politics focused” website that offers its members the ability to upload cell phone photos directly online! The photoprez LIVE MOBILE gallery is located at photoprez.com/livemobile and has the most recent cell phone pictures from the campaign trail for the 2008 election.

Often, those closest to the candidates and newsworthy events don’t have the benefit of a digital camera at hand.  However, virtually everyone carries cell phones and a majority of those have camera phones.  And, although the quality of cell phone media is still less than desireable, increasingly, there are more examples of cell phone photos and videos becoming news. (The most infamous example is probably the leaked Saddam Hussein execution cell phone video).

While the ability to upload from cell phone to web is not new a new feature among the blogging and social network ‘internets’ (see, Flickr, Facebook, Blogger, etc.), the major news organizations are hesitant to offer their readers the ability to full contribute to the creation of ‘news’.  For instance, major newspapers outlets with plenty of technological expertise like the Washington Post/ Newsweek Interactive (washingtonpost.com) and the NationalJournal.com don’t have the option for readers to post campaign photographs.

Membership at photoprez.com is free and registration enables members to upload digital photographs, videos, and cell phone videos. That’s why, if you’re at a campaign event, we want to be there! The free LIVE MOBILE photoprez.com gallery makes it easy for you share live campaign pictures by using your cell phone. There are 3 steps:

Step 1- Register. Get your free account at photoprez.com.

Step 2- Link your Cell. Login to your photoprez.com account and go to the Live Mobile Gallery. In the Status Bar at the top of the screen, click the cell phone number link. the photoprez.com galleries - Republican Edition

The campaign trail for the 2008 Election is a crowded place, especially at the top. Although John McCain and Sarah Palin are the only candidates officially on the Republican Presidential ticket, there are nevertheless a few other significant political figures campaigning on their behalf. In particular, the current Republican President and Vice President, as well as their spouses, are campaigning for many Republican candidates including those running for Congress, Senate, and Governorships.

At photoprez.com, we have individual galleries for all the major Republican political figures campaigning at the top of the Republican ticket. Possibly Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska for McCain’s VP

Now the networks are reporting that Sarah Palin, the current Governor of Alaska, has been selected as John McCain’s Vice Presidential candidate.  Earlier this month, photoprez users speculated that Governor Palin might appear on the GOP ticket.   Here’s the Governor giving a stump speech in Alaska:

McCain’s Google Ads Choose Lieberman for his Team

As of Friday morning, the speculation around John McCain’s Vice Presidential candidate selection has only intensified.  According to NBC News, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, and Sarah Palin have all been definitively ruled out.  So, who’s left for McCain to chose?

According to Google AdSense keyword and image banner ads, Joe Lieberman has joined John McCain’s team.  Last night, we posted a screenshot of an image banner ad and now we have a screenshot of a text banner ad.

So, before CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC has confirmed McCain’s selection, Google AdSense lets us know that “Senator Lieberman Joins McCain’s Team.  Learn Why You Should Join!”.  Another first for Internet politics-  VP announcement by banner ad!  Interestingly, the URL listed in the banner ad leads to dead ‘404′ page on McCain’s website.  Is his campaign waiting to turn the JohnMcCain.com/lieberman link on?

McCain and Lieberman Announce “Our Team” in Google AdSense Banners

The announcement of John McCain’s Vice Presidential running mate is a widely anticipated in the next few hours. Currently, political reporters have only speculation; on the Charlie Rose show live from Denver, Mark Halperin even admitted he “had no idea” who McCain would chose, but the bets were for Tim Pawlenty.

However, there have been a few sightings online of McCain campaign banners and search ads prominently featuring Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman. First, at www.DaniWeb.com, blogger slfischer reveals that Google Adsense keywords may be exposing McCain’s intention to chose Joe Lieberman. Specifically, a search of the keywords “McCain Leiberman” produce a keyword ad promoting the two.

And, in the last few hours, we’ve received a few screenshots of a Google AdSense banner ads displayed on this site, photoprez.com. These banner ads show McCain and Lieberman together; here is the final frame of the ad:

McCain and Lieberman are pictured together, in a happy moment. The ad is paid by McCain 2008 and the call to action asks users to “JOIN OUR TEAM”. Note, the use of the possessive “OUR TEAM”… Are John McCain and Joe Lieberman a team?

Update: Other online readers are seeing this ad as well. “Awesome Blogger” Bob Cesca saw the same John/ Joe banner ad. Are these ads geo-targeted or running nationwide? Generally speaking, our users who reported seeing these ads are on the East Coast. More sightings must be documented to determine the scope of McCain’s Google media buy.
